I am very pleased about the Spiegel article online and the print edition of 14.09.24. Our cases are being taken seriously. It’s about everyone’s safety and the obligation to avoid “worse things”. I hope for clarification.
Many thanks to Simone Stolz for her excellent support and enormous commitment! Driver A. Kocher
My case: Accident while parking due to automatic acceleration.
On Sunday, 21.07.24, I had an accident because my ID accelerated on its own when parking. I was driving at walking pace to park lengthways in the direction of travel. Approx. 1.5 to 2 meters in front of the parked car, my car accelerated on its own without me accelerating. I was unable to brake in time and hit the car parked in front of me. Damage to my vehicle: front bumper broken (amount of damage approx. 4,000 euros).
I was in driving mode B / ACC active, but not activated. Front Assist and Emergency Brake Assist did not react! I still can’t understand why my ID accelerated on its own without me accelerating? As a precaution, I have now switched off the Travel Assist/ACC so that no action / cruise control can be activated by accidentally swiping the touch buttons on the steering wheel. There are several articles on this on the Internet.
My case is with the ADAC and KBA.
The accident data memory was read out by the manufacturer. In the statement, the manufacturer writes
“Based on the data/entries stored in the accident data recorder, which indicate an actuation of the accelerator pedal, a self-acceleration caused by the vehicle cannot be recognized”.
I am not surprised by this statement. The data in the accident data memories of the other affected parties also show that the accelerator pedal has been depressed. I have now requested the complete data from the accident data memory / diagnostic logs from the manufacturer.
